Serene Wetlands ….

Hi, as I promised myself at the beginning of the year, I am making sure that my crafting this year revolves around the things I enjoy the most, and here I have again made another couple of cards with more stamps.
These stamps were a pure indulgence buy, having hankered after them for a fair while.
I had day out over the Christmas period, where I was able to go out and just watch the birds sitting out on the estuary, uninterrupted,  just like I used to do when I was younger (and before having children  Lol!)
. This stamp reminded me of the scenes that I have spent many many hours just watching over as they go about their business (as some of you may people watch!), and perhaps hoping to spot something I haven’t seen before.
It’s one of the most peaceful past times,  (even on those days when the weather has been less than perfect….like sitting on a Norfolk beach on New Year’s Day!)  These days its mostly limited to the kitchen window, and watching the skies and hedgerows as I drive, but it never leaves you. Its amazing what you can see if you just keep your eyes peeled.
  • I have used a few new techniques to make the card too. Initially I coloured some watercolour paper with watered down stamping ink. Then to make the colours more subtle and add some texture I added a thin layer of gesso through a stencil, and allowed it to dry.
  • Before stamping the birds, I added a ‘swipe’ of distress ink for the waterline.
  • To finish I embellished simply by stamping with faux washi tape stamps, added a sentiment, then doodled the outside frame with a fine black liner.
Using the same two sets of stamps, and very similar techniques (Stampin Up –Wetlands, & Stampin Up – Tape It sets), I also made this card.

Mounting them both onto a soft grey card base, keeps it all very calm. I think that even with the colours I have used, they would be great for a mans card too, especially for someone with an interest in nature.

Thanks for joining me, and I hope you like what I have made.
