Decoupage with Acetate…

Good morning, its Monday again, and first day back at school for the boys after the Easter break.

Unfortunately we couldn’t make the most of the reasonable (well dry) weather we had during the break because the illness bugs struck our household again – we have had our fair share of them this last 12 months and I want to banish them now for a very long time.

It has meant that also that I wasn’t to craft at all until very late Saturday night, and it gave me a chance to create this design team make for

I have chosen this digital image, and printed it directly onto Basic Grey design paper from the Plumeria collection. You know when you think about and plan a card for a good couple of days, well I had this paper in mind from the beginning. I have had this collection for a very long time and have refrained from using this sheet because it was too pretty……but perfect for this project.

The construction of this card is relatively straight forward, with matting and layering onto white bazzill, silver mirri and design paper.
The detail comes with the decoupage of the water lily, layered up with acetate.

To construct I printed the two flowers 3 times onto a sheet of acetate, and cutting them out closely.  Using silicone gel glue I built up the layers. The first being a complete layer, the remaining two layers I cut into then rebuilt to create a 3D effect.

I hope from these photos you can appreciate the dimension of these flowers.

The final details I have highlighted the two large letters with glossy accents, and diamond dust on the butterflies.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have created, and have inspired you to come and join us at the challenge blog.
