Snow with Unicorn Sparkles – IndigoBlu

Hi there, we are so near to Christmas now and this is my busiest week of the year.

For the December challenge on the IndigoBlu blog, it’s all about Snow, Snow, Snow.

IndigoBlu December Challenge

Many of you will either have snow at Christmas this year or are wishing for it, my sister wishes for it every year, but living in Devon very rarely see’s it unfortunately.

My Design Team Entry

I have created my snow effect on an acetate sheet. I have mixed unicorn sparkles into Super Thick Slap It On medium and applied it to acetate through the textures stencil. When the slap it on has dried it will be transparent and the sparkles glisten through as if it is snow. These two products combined are fabulous and I love working with them both. Mixed together they create a super snowy effect.

I have domed the acetate to create a 3D effect in front of a woodland scene. I really enjoy using tree stamps, and am always exploring alternative ways in which to use them and to create believe landscape scenes. by using acetate I was able to use more tree images without layering them on top of one another. When you are building your layers with stamps it is really important not to lose too much of the detail of the images.

Using tree stamps from the A6 Winterland Wood set, I have created a scene in the background onto IndigoBlu paper using Peacock Feathers Distress ink. I just loved the richness of the colour in the design paper, and teamed it with a teal cardstock. The background scene takes the landscape structure from the paper, and the woodland created by the varying style of tree. The colour is quite alternative for a christmas theme, but works….in my opinion anyway :-D.

To accent the card I have used Tim Holtz sissix ‘Holiday Greens’ dies, again using shades of teal to continue the colour scheme.

Many thanks for joining me today. I’d like to extend many festive wishes to you.

Merry Christmas everyone, see you again soon,
