Pixie Powder on Coloured Card – Creative Expressions
Hello, welcome to my first blog post for 2017 (I think!). Today i have been playing with Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders, trying them out on coloured cardstock. What do you think of the result, I just love it. I love how subtle they become in the background, letting the beauty of the mica catch the light.
I don’t usually, go to pink as my first choice but this Raspberry foundation card is so vibrant i thought it would be fab to team it with crisp white. I sprinkled two Cosmic Shimmer Pixie powders over an A4 sheet and activated the pigment with water. I was quite liberal with the powders just in case on the bright background they didn’t show, and I think I got the balance just right. I used Aubergine Dream & Burnt Orange – give it a try at home you’ll be so impressed at the effect and how the light changes the background.
I wanted to achieve crisp lines, and Sue Wilson’s Perspectives word dies are perfect. For me, the addition of the black stamping in the background lifts the entire design and completes the perfect colour combination.
I aim to find new ways to use the supplies I have and an idea came into my head ‘what would pixie powders look like on a coloured cardstock?’. I should say at this point, I sat down originally with a different idea!
I have embossed the flower heads in white embossing powder directly onto the pixie powder background. I wanted to show the versatility of stamps by Creative Expressions. The flowers, with accompanying dies are part of Sue Wilson’s festive collection, and are actually Christmas Roses (and their leaves)….. you wouldn’t have guessed would you?
I always stamp and cut two lots of flowers so I can choose the best for my project. I was able to use all of them and managed to create a second card, sticking to the same theme.
