Creative Expressions Zen Betty MDF Tag
Hi There
It’s all back to school for us today, so back to the normal routine of things.
I have decided to reach for the Zen Betty clear stamp set today and to dress up an MDF tag, that can be used a a door hanging. I will be using this set over the next few weeks to make a birthday gift set for my niece, who is looking forward to her 11th birthday.
1.Take the MDF tag shape, and apply a thin layer of adhesive to one side before covering with Craft Consortium craft papers. I have used the Crosmic Shimmer Matt Glue Seal & Glaze adhesive, it dries to touch very quickly,so that you can take an emery board (or fine grade sandpaper) to buff the edges of the tag (where the decoupage paper overhands) to ensure a smooth and neat finished edge. If you prefer you can use scissors to trim the over hang. Leave to one side to dry completely.
2. Stamp the figure, Zen betty using Memento Black Tuxedo ink onto white colouring cardstock and colour using alcohol colouring markers (I use promarkers). Fussy cut (quite close) the image, apply Cosmic Twinkles to the laces on the boots and set to one side to fully dry.
3. -Take a 3 x 5.25 inch piece of lilac cardstock and shape into a tag, cutting away the top two corners. Next take the decorative border edge from Sue Wilson’s Diagonals Die Set (Labyrinth) and shape the two long edges.
– Decorate the lower edge this tag by stamping the linear border stamp from the Zen Betty set, and then heat emboss with Cosmic Shimmer detail embossing powder (I have used silver shine).
-Wrap three lengths of coordinating ribbon above the embossed feature, securing well on the reverse.
4. Assemble the components of the tag (as displayed in the photo) and complete by stamping one of the sentiments from the set and adding to the tag using silicone glue gel.
I love the sentiment, and although it is not a phrase I would use myself, I’m sure an 11 year old will be far more familiar with it. I’m hoping my Sister won’t regret me sending this to her daughter when, she announces she is having a ‘Chillax Day’ by hanging it on her bedroom door in the morning……:-) xx x
